Birthday Wish......

On my Birthday, my initial desire was to hold a session where some contemporary issues that affect our people can be discussed. However, it ended up as a Birthday wish.

I have just chosen to use this medium to write on what is the issue that has recurrent burgled my mind. This is what bother me......

"Nigerian Police Officers in Edo State who aid & support RAPIST to escape JUSTICE and make life difficult for victims of Abuse & Sexual violence just name it, rape, defilement, incest and all manners of sexual offences ranging from father, uncles, neighbours  to females in some cases males.
It becomes painful that these persons are easily granted bail (we know how free bail can be); they in turn go back to taunt their victims that they have secured freedom and boastfully tell them that they would repeat the act again if care is not taken. There are cases where within a span of a short while one person would have been arrested more than twice for sexual offences such as rape.

If the rapists and defilers have been made to face the consequences of their actions, they would not have the opportunity to repeating the act again. The weak system in place is being capitalized upon.

When a victim goes to seek help at the Police Station, they are made to pass through some stress tat would discourage the victim; the victim case is compounded when relatives of the perpetrators become to make appeal with all manners of begging while some have resorted to threatening the victim or their family.

Some of the bottlenecks include ask for as high as #20,000.00 (twenty thousand naira) or more for case note to be opened (similar to what is obtainable at the hospital); the victim is asked to make vehicle available or purchase for fuel so that arrest can be effected.

A look at the name says, "Nigerian Police Force (NPF)" and they are called "Law Enforcement Agent (LEA)"........they are upholding the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which they have been saddled with the responsibility to police. It is important

You grant bail without considering the victims; You give perpetuators loophole to escape....

I wish that your daughters, sisters, wives, aunts, mothers & other relatives be raped & violated to stupor or into coma SO YOU CAN KNOW THE PAIN victims and their relatives pass through."😡😡😡😡😡

If you have them as relatives advice them to stop....

Silence is Not Golden: The Need for Accountability and Justice in Nigeria's Justice System for Sex-Related Crimes

Silence is Not Golden: The Need for Accountability and Justice in Nigeria's Justice System for Sex-Related Crimes By Dr. Bright Oniovokukor  In Nigeria's justice system, one area of criminality that has not received fair and objective attention is sex-related offenses. The challenge of providing evidence remains significant, and proving the facts is another obstacle. Despite having various laws in place to address these issues for many years, biases stemming from loud opinions, prejudice, nepotism, religion, and culture continue to hinder progress. This has perpetuated a culture of silence. When a woman who has been sexually harassed decides to speak up, some people, including some who claim to be gender advocates, argue that the timing and circumstances are not ideal. They have used this argument to criticize Senator Natasha, claiming she spoke out at the wrong time and place.  This raises questions:  When is enough enough?  Do offenders consider the time and locati...

SENATOR OLUREMI TINUBU: THE "SWEET MOTHER" NORM IS A TRADITION OF RESPECT AND ADMIRATION .......A WAKE-UP CALL AS STUDENTS' REACTION HIGHLIGHTS NEED FOR CHANGE

Senator Oluremi Tinubu's recent visit to a school in Delta State took an unexpected turn, sparking concerns about her role as the First Lady of Nigeria. The drama unfolded when the MC welcomed her with a song, "Na Our Mama be dis" ("This is our mother"), but the students, mostly adult nurses-in-training, responded with "Na Your Mama be dis" ("This is your mother"), implying she was the MC's mother, not theirs.  When the MC mounted the stage, it's usually a norm for some women who are top personalities to be welcomed with a song, "Sweet Mother". This is a sign of respect and admiration for these women. However, some people have expressed the opinion that they can only call someone "Mother" if she is their biological mother or has played a motherly role in their lives. This sentiment was echoed in the unexpected response of the students during Senator Oluremi Tinubu's visit. This unexpected reaction raises questi...

TRUE STORY: AUNTY PRISCILLA, PLEASE SHOW ME THE WAY!!

A true life narrative. In the past decade, several people especially acquaintances and younger colleagues have requested of me to ‘Show Them The Way’. Sadly, very few of these persons are willing to undergo the entire process of the “Way” they desire. They focus on the glitz and glamour associated with my work and refuse to acknowledge or associate with its inherent struggles, processes as well as its risks and challenges. I began BraveHeart Initiative (BH) at age 18 (Year 2002) as a teenage girl in a rural community. BHI was then known as Voice of the Zionites and operated as a youth led, youth focused, faith based youth development club. We only programmed during the main holidays as our target population were secondary school students and we needed an ample opportunity to reach them in large numbers. Our activities were executive during the Easter Holidays (April), Long Holidays (August) and Christmas Holidays (December). I had my first seminar on the 26th of December 2002...
