Total Police Reform and not #EndSARS or #EndSWAT

The Indomitable Youth Organisation a non-governmental organisation, has called for a total overhaul of the Nigeria Police Force to assist in weeding out its bad elements. The Project Director, Dr Bright Oniovokukor, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin City. Oniovokukor said that the police reformation was imperative as it would assist in providing better welfare packages, regular training and psychological tests of police officers and men as well as tackle logistics constraints. “This reformation should start from appearance, qualifications, training, conduct, welfare and ensuring that the police officers, men and women are in proper states of mind.   “Looking at the welfare of the average policeman is also a cause for worry. The theme, Rape and Gender Based Violence: The Silence and Conspiracy of Stakeholders. The issue of rape and the various challenges that follow has been a major concern in our society and very worrisome. The event brought together stakeholders from different background and diverse organization attracted various remarks all of which were condemning the act of rape.  Hon. CANDLELIGHT PROCESSION OF CSOs COALITION ON JUSTICE FOR UWAILA

CSOs Coalition on Justice for Uwa held a Candlelight Procession in Ohovbe Community, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Edo State, this is part of community engagement activities that has been proposed to demand for Justice of Uwa. The rape, assault and death of Uwaila has sparked reactions and condemnation from various groups, Government and private.  Despite the heat of the sun, the coalition took a walk from the popular NNPC Depot fence to the her parents compound, through the community and terminated at the palace of the Enogie where a community response was inaugurated. Among those that were present were representative of various CSOs, CSO Network heads. FIDA, Police, NSCDC, Community members.  Hon. Destiny Enabulele who is from the CSO community and the Chairman Ovia South West Local Government Council was also present.
