Marketing: The Human Perspective

By Otoghile Osahume,

B. SC marketing

The topic is both theoretical and practical

Theory: Educating your mind on what marketing is.

Practical: Tuning it with our self's as humans.

WHAT IS MARKETING:

According to AMA, Marketing is An Activity That Encompass Processes Involved In The Production, Communicating, Delivering And Exchanging Of Things That Have Value For Customers And Society At Large.

Personally, I Describe It , As The Totality Of Processes Engaged In From The Point Of Production To Post-Consumption (Processes Include  Identifying, Producing, Packaging, Promotion, Pricing, Delivering, Feedback).

MARKETING MIX

PRODUCT: This may be an idea , a physical entity (goods) or an intangible asset (services) or also a combination of all and it exist solely for the purpose of exchange for the satisfaction of human wants or objectives.

PRICE: This is the formal ratio that indicates the quantity of money needed to acquire a set product.

PLACE: This is the extent of coverage for a given product. It can also be referred as a set location where an individual must visit to obtain products so as to satisfy their various wants.

PROMOTION: This are factors or tactics that are implored to encourage short term purchases, influence trials and quantity of purchases. It can also be termed as various means used to create awareness of products, how & where to obtain them and also benefits attached to such products.

Marketing generally revolves around the identification of problems, creation of demand and the satisfaction through supply.

HUMAN PERSPECTIVE

We can depict from these aforementioned ideas that:

PRODUCT: The Individual, His Abilities, Skills, Passion, Interests.

PRICE:  The Extent One Can Go Towards Achieving His/Her Set Objectives.

PLACE: Where & How One Can Satisfy The Demand Created By Supplying The Needed Commodities.

PROMOTION: Amount Of Awareness Created To Reach Prospective/Potential Clients In Needed Of Such Products.

We Should Understand That Life Itself Is A General Marketplace (Where Business Is Conducted), As Such Not Undermining The Positive Value Role Of Tangibles (Goods) And Intangibles (Services), There Could Be A Demand For Other Things Thats Require Satisfaction.

For Example

Christ Jesus Came To Earth To Die For Our Salvation,

PRODUCT:  Salvation

PRICE: Your Willingness To Accept Him As Your Saviour

PLACE: Wherever You Acknowledge Him As Your Saviour

PPROMOTION:  Awareness Created For You And Also To Bring Others To Accept Him

This Is Just One And We Can Also Liken Other Various Aspects Of Life ,  But It Leads Us All To The Bigger Question,

HOW CAN I MARKET MYSELF EFFECTIVELY?.

For Growth , For My Family, For My Society, For The World At Large.

Surely, No Man Is An Island Of His Own.  .

1.Identifying Our Niche

Ask These Questions:

What Are Your Interests?

What Are Your Passions ?

How Can You Bring Them Together ?

Engage Them In Innovation And Problem Solving, Focusing On The Uncommon Things You Have To Offer.

2.Seek Recognition For Your Expertise

Grow Your Reputation And Promote Our Informed Opinions, Showcase What You Know By Building A Knowledge Base.

Also Develop Relationships With Thought Leaders In Our Sought-Out Fields.

Plainly, the second sub header says,

"we should promote ourselves by showing others what we are good at, therefore creating the demand for our self's to satisfy their needs"

3.Share Your Wisdom

Contribute Articles That Are Informative, Well-Written, Timely, And Valuable To Readers And Show They Can Aid Them In Their Given Interests.

Create A Network Of Likeminded People In Your Field And Work On Connecting Deeply And Really Getting To Know One Another.

4.Remember Who You Are

The Person Who Knows How Best To Market Yourself Apart As A Leader And Generous Citizen Of Your Community Is Basically You.

Every Word You Say, Everything That You Communicate And Do, Serves As A Message To The World.

There is generally no one effective way for marketing a product, as the product can only be accessible to a certain number of persons at a certain time.

Therefore, the best way to market any product is to "give quality".

When you give quality to your products, and it satisfies the demand, it would always be demanded for more satisfaction.

That is why you see products failing because although they where promoted aggressively,

They were sub standard, below expectations but when you offer quality, you would always be demanded

Silence is Not Golden: The Need for Accountability and Justice in Nigeria's Justice System for Sex-Related Crimes

Silence is Not Golden: The Need for Accountability and Justice in Nigeria's Justice System for Sex-Related Crimes By Dr. Bright Oniovokukor  In Nigeria's justice system, one area of criminality that has not received fair and objective attention is sex-related offenses. The challenge of providing evidence remains significant, and proving the facts is another obstacle. Despite having various laws in place to address these issues for many years, biases stemming from loud opinions, prejudice, nepotism, religion, and culture continue to hinder progress. This has perpetuated a culture of silence. When a woman who has been sexually harassed decides to speak up, some people, including some who claim to be gender advocates, argue that the timing and circumstances are not ideal. They have used this argument to criticize Senator Natasha, claiming she spoke out at the wrong time and place.  This raises questions:  When is enough enough?  Do offenders consider the time and locati...

SENATOR OLUREMI TINUBU: THE "SWEET MOTHER" NORM IS A TRADITION OF RESPECT AND ADMIRATION .......A WAKE-UP CALL AS STUDENTS' REACTION HIGHLIGHTS NEED FOR CHANGE

Senator Oluremi Tinubu's recent visit to a school in Delta State took an unexpected turn, sparking concerns about her role as the First Lady of Nigeria. The drama unfolded when the MC welcomed her with a song, "Na Our Mama be dis" ("This is our mother"), but the students, mostly adult nurses-in-training, responded with "Na Your Mama be dis" ("This is your mother"), implying she was the MC's mother, not theirs.  When the MC mounted the stage, it's usually a norm for some women who are top personalities to be welcomed with a song, "Sweet Mother". This is a sign of respect and admiration for these women. However, some people have expressed the opinion that they can only call someone "Mother" if she is their biological mother or has played a motherly role in their lives. This sentiment was echoed in the unexpected response of the students during Senator Oluremi Tinubu's visit. This unexpected reaction raises questi...

FALSE DIAGNOSIS OF TYPHOID MUST STOP IN NIGERIA!

In Nigeria, if you called in sick and couldn’t make it to work, it was probably because you had Malaria and Typhoid. Did I hear you say Typhoid? You have participated in Fraud! Let me shock you, the rate of Typhoid fever occurrence in Sub-Saharan Africa based on existing studies is less than 1%, unlike malaria prevalence which currently stands above 60% in Nigeria. Yet, typhoid fever, a disease caused by Salmonella typhi and its paratyphi variant is being diagnosed on a daily basis and treated at an unprecedented rate in Nigeria. This situation has gotten so bad that almost every patient; male, female, young and old with febrile illness in Nigeria is treated for typhoid. At every turn, what you hear is: ‘I have just been diagnosed and treated for malaria and typhoid’ or ‘since I treated malaria and its not going I must definitely have typhoid. As a matter of fact, patients who believe they have these twin ailments will abandon doctors who refuse to treat the Typhoid component ...
