Why Edo Needs Rt. Hon. Ogbeide-Ihama by Mike Osakue

Responding to 12 Questions on Edo What We Need  platform, Mike Osakue has these response:

1. Need is something necessary to survive while for Want we can still survive if we don't get it.

2. Needs assessment is encouraged because it is the basic hub that holds all sector be it physical or spiritual for want assessment it may just be an academic exercise which no one would feel to invest energy into seems they are mere dreams which are not Sustainable e.g Obaseki, Ize-Iyamu, Odubu Ogiemwonyi etc are all that Edo State want at the moment but in actual sense they are not Needed in the state. The Only Essential rare gem Needed for Edo State Right now is Rt, Hon. Ogbeide-Ihama.

3. If we conduct a want assessment we may end up wasted precious time and energy because we will still fall back to reality(Need) at the of the day.We may remain in one particular circle without actually moving because we are in actual sense working with mere desires or emotions which have never stood the test of time e.g Oshiobaba slogan, today it is a taboo to make that statement. Another good example is 'Sai Buhari ' this one can lead to mob anywhere in Nigeria today. But as at then our vast majority who are illiterates had the above examples as 'want' at the end of it all this is where we find ourselves

4. Need (Ogbeide-Ihama ) is a Reality while Want (Obaseki, Odubu, Ize Iyamu, Ikhine, Ogiemwonyi and co are mere fictional.

5. Yes we all Need  Dennis Osadebey Avenue but currently a lot of us are actually approaching this Need with a want attitude vice versa.

6. a. Infrastructural development

b. Human Development which is one of the major failure of the current government

C. Restoring our lost hope in all the Tertiary institutions which had been shut down due to lack of Vision from previous and present government

d. Creation of mini modern markets in all the 18 LGAs of Edo

e. Reviving sports activities in Edo State

f. Local generation of Power for the People of the state

g. Activating the Edo State Civil service to immediately employ Edo indigenes who are graduates and non graduates as appropriate.

h. Reducing cost of governance

i. Bringing back our History by making it compulsory for our indigenous languages to be thought right from Primary to Secondary schools.

j. Reviving our transport institute which we where well know for but had been destroyed by both present and past government e.g Edo Line

8. The people crave for a responsible government but once money is thrown at them because they want this money badly which our politician's had turned them to they immediately abandon the Need and run after their want especially during elections.

9. Rt, Hon. Ogbeide-Ihama shall create massive employment and give true meaning to governance. All Bars Between The Middle and Lower Class shall be lifted by People Oriented Policies by so doing the Peoples Self Esteem and Equality shall Begin to reign supreme by so doing the gaps are closed

10. Our today's government seems to be highly carried away by party affairs. They have refused to acknowledge that fact that as soon as they assume office they are now responsible to the Masses and not their Political Parties. Currently all appointments are based on Party Affiliation's hence the decay we experience today in Edo State. Rt, Hon. Ogbeide-Ihama had shown with the little opportunity given to him that he is a man of the People and can leave above board if given the opportunity

12.It is well with Edo State

Silence is Not Golden: The Need for Accountability and Justice in Nigeria's Justice System for Sex-Related Crimes

Silence is Not Golden: The Need for Accountability and Justice in Nigeria's Justice System for Sex-Related Crimes By Dr. Bright Oniovokukor  In Nigeria's justice system, one area of criminality that has not received fair and objective attention is sex-related offenses. The challenge of providing evidence remains significant, and proving the facts is another obstacle. Despite having various laws in place to address these issues for many years, biases stemming from loud opinions, prejudice, nepotism, religion, and culture continue to hinder progress. This has perpetuated a culture of silence. When a woman who has been sexually harassed decides to speak up, some people, including some who claim to be gender advocates, argue that the timing and circumstances are not ideal. They have used this argument to criticize Senator Natasha, claiming she spoke out at the wrong time and place.  This raises questions:  When is enough enough?  Do offenders consider the time and locati...

SENATOR OLUREMI TINUBU: THE "SWEET MOTHER" NORM IS A TRADITION OF RESPECT AND ADMIRATION .......A WAKE-UP CALL AS STUDENTS' REACTION HIGHLIGHTS NEED FOR CHANGE

Senator Oluremi Tinubu's recent visit to a school in Delta State took an unexpected turn, sparking concerns about her role as the First Lady of Nigeria. The drama unfolded when the MC welcomed her with a song, "Na Our Mama be dis" ("This is our mother"), but the students, mostly adult nurses-in-training, responded with "Na Your Mama be dis" ("This is your mother"), implying she was the MC's mother, not theirs.  When the MC mounted the stage, it's usually a norm for some women who are top personalities to be welcomed with a song, "Sweet Mother". This is a sign of respect and admiration for these women. However, some people have expressed the opinion that they can only call someone "Mother" if she is their biological mother or has played a motherly role in their lives. This sentiment was echoed in the unexpected response of the students during Senator Oluremi Tinubu's visit. This unexpected reaction raises questi...

FALSE DIAGNOSIS OF TYPHOID MUST STOP IN NIGERIA!

In Nigeria, if you called in sick and couldn’t make it to work, it was probably because you had Malaria and Typhoid. Did I hear you say Typhoid? You have participated in Fraud! Let me shock you, the rate of Typhoid fever occurrence in Sub-Saharan Africa based on existing studies is less than 1%, unlike malaria prevalence which currently stands above 60% in Nigeria. Yet, typhoid fever, a disease caused by Salmonella typhi and its paratyphi variant is being diagnosed on a daily basis and treated at an unprecedented rate in Nigeria. This situation has gotten so bad that almost every patient; male, female, young and old with febrile illness in Nigeria is treated for typhoid. At every turn, what you hear is: ‘I have just been diagnosed and treated for malaria and typhoid’ or ‘since I treated malaria and its not going I must definitely have typhoid. As a matter of fact, patients who believe they have these twin ailments will abandon doctors who refuse to treat the Typhoid component ...
