True Story;

She is in her late 30s with two children, aged mother and siblings. The truth is that the siblings does not know what she do to survive as she operates about three states from her place of origin. On many occasions she look very moody and other times she is full of life. She really does not have a bipolar disorder but sometimes she is boxed between leaving the profession and checking out the gains she has made by supporting the upkeep of her children and aged mother.

She has at many occasions said  "If I get this amount either from this job or from bets she used to play, that she would just quit."

It all started after her marriage hit a rock, yes she was happily married. She had a humble beginning as things were actually rough with them after the death of her father. She moved to Lagos to stay with brother whom she was helping to run his business. Things were getting better till the brother traveled abroad and his wife took over everything and they were left with nothing.

She then returned to the village and eventually got married to someone whom she said they were soul-knitted in love.  The love of the marriage blossom until they had two kids, a boy and a girl and the mother in-law wanted them to have as many children as possible. This was contrary to the agreement between she and her husband; that was the beginning of her trouble in the marriage. The mother in-law insisted that it's either she has more children or the son would have to send her away and marry another who would have more children for them. The mother in-law succeeded in ensuring that marriage ended as she convinced her son to marry another woman. Which he did and started maltreating the first wife.

When the suffering was too much and the children should not die from hunger and neglect, she has to move on. Without a specialized skill, she went into petty trade which could really not take care of the responsibility.  After some years of serious hardship, she met a lady who introduced her to this profession. Despite the ill treatment she was still loyal to the family of the husband. During the burial of the father in-law, she met her sister in-law who after watching her for a while called her aside. She made her to understand the need to move on with life. That was how she introduced her to this profession that she been on for some years.

Unlike many others who have indulged in the same job, she has been able make some progress that put smile in the face of her mother and paid the bills of her children especially on education. The health risk of the job is so high and in most cases she is in a dilemma as whether to quit, how to survive and a whole lot of other things.

She has lost how to love because she now see all men as the same that they are heartless ........TO BE CONTINUED

Silence is Not Golden: The Need for Accountability and Justice in Nigeria's Justice System for Sex-Related Crimes

Silence is Not Golden: The Need for Accountability and Justice in Nigeria's Justice System for Sex-Related Crimes By Dr. Bright Oniovokukor  In Nigeria's justice system, one area of criminality that has not received fair and objective attention is sex-related offenses. The challenge of providing evidence remains significant, and proving the facts is another obstacle. Despite having various laws in place to address these issues for many years, biases stemming from loud opinions, prejudice, nepotism, religion, and culture continue to hinder progress. This has perpetuated a culture of silence. When a woman who has been sexually harassed decides to speak up, some people, including some who claim to be gender advocates, argue that the timing and circumstances are not ideal. They have used this argument to criticize Senator Natasha, claiming she spoke out at the wrong time and place.  This raises questions:  When is enough enough?  Do offenders consider the time and locati...

Senator Oluremi Tinubu's recent visit to a school in Delta State took an unexpected turn, sparking concerns about her role as the First Lady of Nigeria. The drama unfolded when the MC welcomed her with a song, "Na Our Mama be dis" ("This is our mother"), but the students, mostly adult nurses-in-training, responded with "Na Your Mama be dis" ("This is your mother"), implying she was the MC's mother, not theirs.  When the MC mounted the stage, it's usually a norm for some women who are top personalities to be welcomed with a song, "Sweet Mother". This is a sign of respect and admiration for these women. However, some people have expressed the opinion that they can only call someone "Mother" if she is their biological mother or has played a motherly role in their lives. This sentiment was echoed in the unexpected response of the students during Senator Oluremi Tinubu's visit. This unexpected reaction raises questi...
