Amplifying Silent Voices in Our Communities

Across our communities, there are countless women, ladies, and girls whose efforts continue to promote peace, unity, safety, and social harmony. Many of them work quietly behind the scenes mediating family disputes, mentoring young people, advocating for justice, supporting vulnerable persons, promoting education, discouraging violence, and encouraging peaceful coexistence.

These women and girls are often the unsung heroes of our society. While their contributions may not always make headlines, their impact is deeply felt within homes, schools, marketplaces, religious centres, and neighbourhoods. They represent resilience, courage, compassion, and leadership in everyday life.

However, many of these inspiring stories remain untold. Too often, society focuses on conflict, insecurity, and negativity while overlooking those who are actively building peace and strengthening community security through positive actions. This is why there is an urgent need to identify, celebrate, and amplify the voices of women and girls who are making meaningful contributions in our communities.

Amplifying their voices comes with enormous benefits. It encourages recognition and appreciation for their efforts, inspires other women and young girls to take up leadership and peacebuilding roles, promotes community participation, and creates opportunities for support and collaboration. More importantly, sharing these stories helps build a culture where peace, dialogue, inclusion, and security are valued and sustained.

Through our weekly publication, we are committed to spotlighting these silent voices and giving them the visibility they deserve. We therefore call on members of the public, community leaders, youth groups, civil society organisations, religious institutions, schools, and media practitioners to help identify women and girls who are contributing to peace and security in their communities.
